Position Summary
The Patient Care Supervisor is responsible for supervising the staff of patient care operations. Provides workflow direction; supervision consistent with achieving department objectives. Other duties include achieving coordination, consistency, and integration in the operation of the Medical Center acute care setting, assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, assisting in strategic planning and budgeting, and leading and/or participating in improvement projects/teams.

           Provides care according to the plan, and in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and relevant nursing practice guidelines.
           Coordinates nursing care with the care of other health team members.

           Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals as appropriate.
           Delegates direct and indirect patient care activities to competent personnel based on needs, condition, potential for risk/harm, complexity of the skills predictability of the outcome, and patient flow.
           Assures actions are based on scientific, ethical, or ecological principles; proven effectiveness; past experience; practice standards; patient/family requests and values; or legal parameters.
           Documents interventions according to practice guidelines
           Responds appropriately to emergent situations.

Minimum requirements
Diploma/Degree in Nursing
Current Minnesota RN license
BLS certification
Minimum of 3 years acute care experience. ACLS, TNCC. ENPCC are required within 12 months of employment. (Once ACLS is obtained, BLS is no longer required.)
 
Additional Requirements
High level of creative problem solving skills and priority setting. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Willingness to work in various areas/sites. Requires use of computer hardware/software and use of other office equipment. May be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, call, and shift rotation. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
